Few things are more powerful than the opportunity to change (or at least challenge) the mindset of people. That’s what Robert does.
Robert’s story, and how he shares it, encourages attendees to rethink what’s possible. To reframe their challenges into opportunities that will stretch, and maybe even surprise themselves.
While almost all of Robert’s talks have touched on his life before breaking his back and the accident, from that point in his story there are many different paths he can speak to. What also sets apart his talks are all of the stunning images, inspiring videos, and funny experiences along the way. Depending on the audience and the goals of the organizers, the best approach for every group, business or class will be determined and crafted.
The above video from 2019 gives a good idea of Robert’s style, but of course, most talks he gives will be much longer; with more stories, jokes, videos and inspiring anecdotes.

Rethink What’s Possible
Robert’s story will change how you feel about your life, your challenges, and what you’re capable of accomplishing. As an individual or an organization, Robert knows we all face obstacles that seem overwhelming. This is what we all have in common. What sets us apart, however, is how we face our challenges and find a way to thrive, regardless of the difficulties (physically and mentally).
This talk is a great reset for organizations looking to accomplish something significant, and needing to get the entire team on the same page.
Finding happiness after loss.
Leveraging Robert’s book, What’s Next, this talk acknowledges that we all experience loss in different ways. Even things like Covid has impacted our lives and generated loss. But, regardless of the volume or severity of our losses, we need to find ways to move through them. Robert shares how he responded to paraplegia and came out the other side, and now again, finding a way to move through something even more difficult. It’s been said that ‘loss accumulates’, but maybe we need to look at the potential that ‘love accumulates as well’. How we look at our lives and our losses will greatly impact our futures.
Attitude is Everything
During every moment of our lives we make a conscious choice on what to focus on. Is the glass half full or half empty? When presented with a problem, this decision is even more important. Do we resign to something being done to us, or find a way to overcome the barrier? Breaking his back has taught Robert to focus on finding ways to make the best of each day. The approach is simple; the challenge is in the execution. Robert will share his colourful story of how he became the first Canadian paraplegic to complete the 226km IRONMAN Triathlon and lessons learned along the way, so that you can redefine what's possible and find your motivation accomplish your dreams.
